Art is among the most innately human abilities we possess. It is a gateway to the imagination, unlocking vistas of possibility and providing a vital bridge to understanding in the face of adversity. Through art, we tap into the deepest aspects of our shared humanity, forging connections that transcend barriers. Art speaks to our deeper self, offering us a glimpse of what is possible when we open our hearts and minds to one another. As we create and consume art, we transcend the boundaries that separate us, discovering new perspectives and forging meaningful connections.

Artist Statement:

I strongly believe in the power of storytelling through mixed-media artworks to impart cultural knowledge and promote growth. My work explores the interconnectedness between humanity and the natural world, with a focus on local landscapes and waterways, such as the Yuba River. Through my art, I aim to inspire inquiry, social and environmental justice, and awareness of the beauty and importance of nature. I also explore ecofeminist themes and celebrate the divine feminine and our kinship with nature. My motivation to create comes from a desire to share personal experiences and inspirations, and I love bringing meaningful intentions and dreams to life for others. My style combines photorealistic techniques with elements of fantasy and surrealism, resulting in deeply personal and meaningful projects such as marriage invitations, Ketubah illustrations, portraits, and personal vision paintings. Through my work, I seek to create a more connected, empathetic, and just society, I am dedicated to using art as a means of achieving these ideals.

You can’t talk about the struggle for human freedom unless you talk about the different dimensions of what it is to be human. And when we’re talking about art you’re talking about meaning, you’re talking about love, you’re talking about resistance, you’re talking about imagination, you’re talking about empathy. All of these are part and parcel of what it is to talk about human freedom. And so art is about those who have the courage to use bits of reality to get us to see reality, in light of a new reality. So it’s about vision by means of imagination, it’s about empathy in terms of looking through this world and seeing the possibilities of a new world, a better world, a more decent, a more compassionate world. And so be one a painter, musician, sculptor, dancer, in fact, be one a human being who aspires to learn the art of living, because in the end I think that’s what the arts are really about, how do we become, all of us become, artists of living? Which has to do with courage, which has to do with love, which has to do with justice, which has to do with leaving the world better than we found it.” -Cornel West
